Event Photography for Hyper Japan Festival, London

For several years in a row I've been a photography for Hyper Japan Festival in London, at various different locations including the 02 Arena and Tobacco Docks. Hyper Japan is the largest Japanese cultural event in the UK and I've been every year since the very first event!

As their events photographer my role was to capture the people, atmosphere and details of the event various over the weekend, including cosplay, music and martial arts performances, art workshops such as kimono dressing or calligraphy, Japanese fashion, and the vast array of food and shopping stalls on offer.

I was also commissioned by Hyper Japan to take street-style fashion snaps of attendees wearing various different styles of Japanese fashion, to be featured in their Hyper Japan J-Style Fashion book. After I became a features writer and fashion photographer for MyM Magazine (published by the people behind MCM Comic Con), I interviewed and photograph some Japanese fashion designers and celebrities at the event to feature them in the magazine.

As an events photographer and someone who is passionate about Japanese culture, taking photos for Hyper Japan Festival is the perfect commission - it suits my colourful photography style to a tee and is also an enjoyable day out for me - and one fuelled by Japanese snacks and a spot of shopping in my downtime!

If you're hosting an event and are looking for an event photographer to capture colourful images that really tell the story of the day and all the details that make it special, then I'd love to hear from you! I'm now based in Chichester, West Sussex but I'm always happy to travel and cover the rest of West and East Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Dorset and London too.
